Das Default User-Profil ist ein spezielles Profil in Windows, das als Vorlage für alle neuen Profile dient. Windows kann das Default User-Profil aus zwei verschiedenen Quellen beziehen:

Der Default User ohne servergespeicherte Profile
In einer Umgebung hingegen, wo servergespeicherte Profile von vornherein abgeschaltet sind, können die Default User-Profile der Workstations dementsprechend wesentlich mächtigere Werkzeuge darstellen. Wenn Windows die Profile nicht dauerhaft auf dem Server speichern kann und auch nicht dauerhaft auf dem Client, dann bekommt der Benutzer bei jeder Anmeldung ein neues Profil, das auf Basis des lokalen Default User-Profils erstellt wird. Dadurch kann man als Systemadministrator auch nachträglich noch benutzerseitige Einstellungen korrigieren, oder z. B. auch in verschiedenen PC-Räumen verschiedene Benutzeroberflächen bereitstellen.
Um dies zu realisieren, muss man diese beiden Anleitungen umsetzen:
